Step-by-Step Guide

eSIM Installation Guide

Follow these simple steps to install and activate your AfroeSIM on any compatible device. Works for both iOS and Android.

Before You Start

Install Before You Travel

Set up your eSIM over Wi-Fi at the airport. The data plan activates only when you arrive at your destination.

Keep Wi-Fi On During Install

A stable internet connection is required to download and activate your eSIM profile.

Don't Delete Your eSIM

Once removed, eSIM profiles cannot be reinstalled. Keep it on your device even after the plan expires.

Monitor Your Usage

Use the link in your confirmation email to track data consumption in real time.

Installation Steps

Choose your device type below

1

Use the Quick Install Link (Easiest)

Tap the 'Install on iOS' button in your order confirmation email. This opens Apple's eSIM setup directly - no scanning needed.

Tip: This link uses Apple's built-in eSIM provisioning (esimsetup.apple.com) and works on iOS 17.4+. It's the fastest way to install.
2

Or Scan the QR Code

If you're viewing the email on another device, open your iPhone camera and scan the QR code from your confirmation email.

Tip: Go to Settings > Cellular > Add eSIM > Use QR Code. Point your camera at the QR code shown in your email.
3

Or Enter Details Manually

If you can't use the link or QR code, enter the SM-DP+ Address and Activation Code from your email manually.

Tip: Go to Settings > Cellular > Add eSIM > Enter Details Manually. You'll need the SM-DP+ Address (e.g., rsp-eu.simlessly.com) and the Activation Code.
4

Label Your Plan

Give your eSIM a label like 'Travel' or your destination country name to easily identify it.

Tip: This helps distinguish your travel eSIM from your primary SIM when switching between lines.
5

Set as Mobile Data Line

Go to Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data and select your new eSIM as the data line.

Tip: Keep your primary SIM active for calls and texts from your home number. Use the eSIM only for data.
6

Enable Data Roaming

Go to Settings > Cellular > tap your eSIM plan > turn on 'Data Roaming'.

Tip: This is essential! Your eSIM won't connect abroad without roaming enabled. Don't worry - your plan covers the data, no extra charges.
7

Check Your Data Usage

Use the 'Check Usage' link in your confirmation email to monitor your data consumption and remaining balance in real time.

Tip: Your email includes a direct link to a usage dashboard tied to your eSIM's transaction number.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about eSIM installation and usage

Can I install my eSIM before traveling?

Yes! We recommend installing your eSIM before you travel while you have a stable Wi-Fi connection. The data plan timer starts only when you connect to a network in your destination country, not when you install it.

What's the difference between Quick Install, QR code, and manual installation?

Quick Install is the easiest - just tap the link in your email and it sets everything up automatically. QR code scanning is great if you're viewing the email on a different device. Manual entry is a fallback where you type in the SM-DP+ Address and Activation Code yourself.

Why do I need to enable Data Roaming?

Data Roaming must be enabled for your eSIM to connect to partner networks abroad. Don't worry - you won't incur extra charges since your data usage is covered by your purchased plan.

Can I use my regular SIM and eSIM at the same time?

Yes! Most modern devices support Dual SIM functionality. Keep your regular SIM for calls and texts from your home number, and use the eSIM for affordable mobile data while traveling.

What should I do if my eSIM doesn't connect?

First, ensure Data Roaming is enabled. Then try toggling Airplane Mode on and off. If that doesn't work, restart your device. Make sure you're in a coverage area. You can also try manually selecting a network operator in your cellular settings.

Can I reuse or reinstall my eSIM?

eSIM profiles are typically single-use. Once deleted from your device, they cannot be reinstalled. We recommend keeping the eSIM on your device even after your plan expires, as some plans support top-ups.

How do I check my remaining data?

Use the 'Check Usage' link in your order confirmation email. It opens a real-time dashboard showing your data consumption and remaining balance, tied to your eSIM's unique transaction number.

What APN settings do I need?

In most cases, APN settings are automatically configured when you install your eSIM. If you experience connectivity issues, check your confirmation email for the APN value and enter it manually in your device's cellular/APN settings.
